The 3 Types of Posts On Instagram
Great Instagram post ideas promote your brand and engage your followers. But it’s not enough to just post any picture or video, there are 3 types of posts on Instagram that will do better than others.
As a business you must separate yourself from your competitors. Its really important to give your followers unique and creative content they can’t get anywhere else. You can use images, carousels and videos to create value for your followers. But what can you do to ensure those posts stand out and actually get some engagement.
1. Entertaining posts
A company that is really good at creating entertaining posts is Wendys. If you don’t know Wendy’s they are a large hamburger restaurant in America which has recently come to the UK. While their competitors have a serious tone online, Wendy’s likes to have some fun. In fact they often go after their competitors online and love to use their Twitter conversations as Instagram posts.
Its not always going after their competitors, this post uses a normal product and makes it fun.
The post “What do you use your Wendy’s cup for?” is a little fun and stands out.
It created great engagement, you can see this post got 8,000 likes, which is good. Your goal is to achieve interaction and engagement on your posts and this one certainly does that. They can’t just post every day telling people to buy burgers, they will soon tune out to the content and that will result in them seeing less of Wendy’s future posts.
2. Motivational posts
People like to be inspired, these posts are really easy to get likes and engagement. Motivational quotes are good because they get good engagement very easily. You can go on a website like fiverr.com. Buy some motivational quotes and get them branded with your company details.
Here is an example I have used “Start something new today, foster it tomorrow, and every day after that, then begin to imagine the possibilities of what you will achieve” from Enzo D’ Alimonte.
When you get good engagement from your followers, they’re going to see your next post. If you show a motivational post, just before you want to sell something, the next selling post will show up to more people.
3. Educational posts
Its great to motivate people and entertain them, but we must also educate them on our product or service. Show people why they need your product or service and how it can improve their life. Never be arrogant to think everyone knows what you offer and how your product or service can benefit them.
An example:
I work with a health and wellness company. They have a product called “Iridology“, which is a scan of the eyeball that can help identify issues you might have with your health.
Most people don’t know what Iridology is, I will be honest I had never heard of it prior to working with Ronald and Petrina. So Ronald and Petrina must create content that educates their followers on exactly what Iridology is and how it can help them. The educational content they produce and be a carousel post or a video. Produce the content that works for you, its the value in the post that is most important.
These are the three main types of posts. These are what are going to set you apart and make your Instagram far more interesting and make it a destination for people.
